Tonight on The Signal Pat profiles the incredible career of clarinetist Lori Freedman. It is Friday on the Signal and that means we have a Loot-bag give away, tonight: The new Kronos Quartet CD with Wu Man. Get out your guitar picks, because in the third hour Pat will be playing a concert by the zen master of the six string, Mr. Bill Frisell along with his band; Joey Baron and Tony Scherr.

Tonight on The Signal Pat will spin music written, inspired by and involving women as international women’s day winds down. On High-Rotation Pat will delve into Veda Hille’s brand new CD: “This Riot Life” throughout the night. Tonight’s concert is the Sappho Project featuring the Constantinople Ensemble, Lori Freedman, Shannon Mercer and a new commissioned work by composer Kiya Tabassian.

Tonight Pat initiates “Soundtrack Sundays” by sampling a few pieces from the soundtrack to Deepa Mehta’s film “Water” by composer Michael Danna. Pat also celebrates the belated 60th birthday of composer Marjan Mozetich with a concert featuring musicians Gisel Dalbec, Wolf Tormann, Donelda Gartshore and more. Music also pays tribute tonight as Pat celebrates music by the late Canadian composer John Weinzweig with his Divertimento performed by flutist Robert Cram.
