Tonight on The Signal Pat ventures deep into the quirky world of singer songwriter Joanna Newsom and her harp. Then it is off to Montreal for tonight’s concert featuring a mostly acoustic set from Malajube. Pat fills in any unsightly cracks with covers from Matt Mays, Battle of Land and Sea and expansive electronic sounds from Edmonton composer Don Ross.

Tonight on the Signal Pat spins a few tracks from a spanking new CD from Toronto’s Prince Nifty. In concert it is one of LA’s top improvisers; trombonist Michael Vlatkovich featuring saxophonist David Mott. Pat also digs deep and surfaces with music from EL-P, The Battles, The Winks, Thom York and Kid Koala.

Tonight on The Signal Pat offers up a grab bag of sounds from the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra’s New Music Festival;Nicole Lizée’s piece “Arcadiac”, Glenn Buhr’s “Pno Concerto”, Jesse Zubot’s “Intolerable Distance” Ether 1, by Pierre Michaud and David Eagle’s “Soundplay 2”. And to fully hog tie your senses, Pat will also feature music from the Coen Brothers’ “O, Brother Where Art Thou”, some Final Fantasy and a little dollop of Michael Nyman.
